Sober Bride

Katja, on June 5, 2023 at 11:03 PM Posted in Planning 1 10
Hi guys! My name is katja, and I’m newly sober. A full year to be exact since May 7th 2023 💪🏻

I’ve been with my fiancé for 11 years, and engaged for 1 or two years idkkk. I have major ADHD since I was 5. (Idk what this has to do with getting married) 🤔
Anyways, I was looking into any tips and ideas for a bride and her wedding people’s to have fun, without drinking. Especially on my end, I’m okay with others and being around, however it can be a major trigger still for myself. So I tend to still avoid major places with little to heavy consumption.
Like what would I do on my bachelorette party?! 😂
Anything helps - I hope to make some cool friends on here! 🥰🎉 sobriety-the-simpsons.gif

Sleepovers, nice dinners, movie nights. It depends on the bride definitely. My MoH knows me very well so she had all our people come together for hot pot dinner, then back to the house for a game of jeopardy about all of us, and then we watched a classic Barbie movie (Fairytopia) as a nostalgia kick. We had lots of snacks. You can make mock tails for whatever as well!
I hope this helps, it’s just my experience (which is short) so I don’t have much to offer.

If you and your friends are into fitness you could make it hiking/biking thing? Or oh! What about a spa day/days? Yoga retreat? Camping?

If it's like for a night, I'd do something like an art class or glass blowing, something you've never tried. Bowling might be fun too or a rollerskating class? Escape room?

My friend had a birthday at the gun range once, none of us had ever shot a gun. It was weirdly fun.

Evidently I'm full of ideas, lol!

Katja, first and foremost Congratulations. Congratulations on both your engagement and your sobriety. You have a lot to be happy about.
A fun bachelorette outting may be a cooking class. I know in my area there are several restaurants and some private establishments that offer classes. Or check out a local scavenger hunt. Those are fairly inexpensive and get you outside.

    Enjoy your wedding planning!

Congratulations on your sobriety! I'm going to brunch and Medieval Times (a jousting competition with dress up) for my bachelorette. If you're interested, there are a lot of mocktail "bars" that do fancy drinks with sodas and teas.

Absolutely HUGE congratulations on your new life as a sober individual. My hubby is on year 8. My sons (the groomsman and best man) planned a game night for his bachelor party, and he had the BEST time. It was some kind of Dungeons and Dragon thing , of which the hubs had no clue how to play. Being a a much older groom he didn't expect the wild drunken night of years gone by LOL So, to answer your question, I think Jacks had some awesome ideas!!! Either way, it has to fit your new lifestyle and your friends should honor that. HAVE FUN

The cool thing about that is you literally have to be sober to do it!

Thought of another one, racing cars.
